Antwerp: world capital of diamonds

The city of Antwerp has the privilege of being considered the world capital of diamonds, as a transactional hub for 80% of rough stones and 50% of cut stones.

The global stability in prices - understood here as the low probability of a drop - is explained by the actions that the De Beers Central Selling Organization carries out on quality control of supply, through its marketing mechanisms and as a large producer and owner of major deposits.

Around fifteen hundred companies are dedicated in Antwerp to activities directly or indirectly related to diamonds.
